Essay Topic and Guidelines for creative writing contest 2025
Participants are asked to answer the following questions:
- What is or will be the role of borders in ordering spaces
- What could be alternative technical and discursive landscapes of control and power
Participants can express their ideas in different formats:
- A written essay between 1200 and 1500 words
- Poems, photographs, cartoons, or drawings
- A mix of text and visuals
Your submission must be original, unpublished, and saved as a PDF file. Do not include your name in the essay itself. Personal details must be shared in a separate cover letter.

- Write your essay and save it as a PDF file
- Name the file using the title of your essay only
- Create a separate PDF cover letter including:
- Your full name
- Title of your essay
- List of all submitted materials such as photos, drawings, or links
- Send your documents to info@borderlab.eu
- If your files are large, send them using WeTransfer, or upload them to Google Drive, Vimeo, or YouTube and include the links in your cover letter
All image files must be in JPEG format and must include captions with titles and details. Do not write your name in the captions. Include your name only in the cover letter.
